Implementing adopt, adapt, improve is taking a bit of time. It’s hard work, which I’ve never been shy about, and trying to align everything we’re doing is proving a bit bloody painful too.

But no fear. Containerking® now offers customers more choice for self-storage in Scunthorpe than ever before. Everything we’re working on is detailed below, but one important aspect of all these improvements and changes is a determination to make doing business simpler for you and for us.

So anyway, Scunthorpe knows Containerking®. We have been providing self-storage since 1997 and, without question, we have been pretty successful in this business. It is, after all, what we were originally known for. Containerking® introduced self-storage to Scunthorpe at least ten years ahead of anyone else.

In hindsight, over the subsequent three decades, the self-storage industry has grown beyond anything I ever anticipated when I got into the business by accident, to the extent that we had actually, in my opinion, slipped behind, and I’m not afraid to say, become complacent.

So, a thorough top-to-bottom revamp, long overdue is now underway, and we’re leaving no stone unturned.

We are currently refurbishing our existing Rowland Road facility, while at the same time progressing plans for two brand-new self-storage facilities which we hope to open in 2027. Subject to planning, these new sites will increase our total capacity to nearly 800 individual storage units, while offering Scunthorpe an even greater choice of self-storage options.

Alongside the Rowland Road refurbishment, we have also begun substantially expanding our wider self-storage offering. As this redevelopment gathered pace, it became increasingly obvious that Containerking® self-storage needed an entirely new, dedicated website of its own.

Developing the new website is proving to be an exhaustive exercise, but rather than leave this website untouched in the meantime, I decided it was time to refresh the Containerking® home page and explain what we’re actually doing.

Our brand-new dedicated self-storage website will hopefully be live towards the end of 2026 at containerking-self-storage.co.uk. (See below for a direct link.)

For now, we have launched a small holding page there detailing our current offers. You’ll find several different self-storage options, each individually explained and clearly priced.

So, if you have the fortitude to read this temporary Containerking® home page, you’ll quickly understand that we still have an awful lot of work to do.

Sort This Sh*t Out!

Containerking® has never stood still. We’ve been supplying anti-vandal site cabins, shipping containers and portable buildings to customers right across the UK since 2007. In 2017, we ventured into portable toilet hire with the launch of Bukaloo®, and since 2021 we’ve been building traditional jack-leg cabins and supplying bespoke shipping container conversions.

Over the years, we’ve added more products, more services and, inevitably, more websites. The result is that things have become a bit jumbled up online, and that’s another reason why big improvements are now being made.

Today, our business covers self-storage, anti-vandal cabins, shipping container hire and sales, portable building hire and sales, bespoke shipping container conversions and portable toilet hire.

Trying to squeeze everything we now do, and all the brands we trade under, into one Containerking® website simply doesn’t make much sense anymore, either for us or, more importantly, for our customers trying to quickly find what they need.

This is simply one of those occasions when, as exhausting as it’s proving to be, we have to accept that significant change is needed to make things substantially better.

The Digital Offensive:

Untangling the Web.

We do operate several websites. Some are outdated (this existing Containerking® website being a prime example), but, as I see it, all of our websites need modernisation and dramatic improvements to their content. The likelihood is that we will ultimately end up completely rebuilding most of them: better websites, with substantially better content.

Even modest updates and a realignment of our existing websites would be a huge undertaking in itself, so completely rebuilding them is going to take time. As we plough through the work, we have to remember that Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Therefore, it has been decided that we will fully align each brand with its own dedicated website, making it much easier to find exactly what you need without having to navigate through information that is outdated or simply no longer relevant.

And whilst the intention is to give each of our brands a much clearer identity, the people, premises and ethics behind Containerking® will never change.

IS THE NEW BATTLEFRONT: SPACE? OR TIME?

Containerking® has always provided space. It’s what we do. Space is something we understand. We can find it, create it, build it, hire it and sell it. Time is different. There is still an awful lot I want to accomplish with Containerking®: better facilities, more choice and more time working alongside the enthusiastic, talented and honourable people I’m lucky enough to call my colleagues. This isn’t about bigger. It’s about better. There are still plenty of battles ahead. I have the fortitude, there’s no surrender and I intend to win.
